tv vs mtv
The show I watch most often is "The Parkers", it comes on BET. Most of the commercials a geared toward the black audience. Most of the products are only used by black people. This is not done because of the show, but because of the channel. BET assumes that everyone watching is black. BET also advertises other shows that air on the network. The show is about a single mother and her daughter going to college at the same time. It addresses a lot of the problems college kids have. The show is comical because college life is a strange thing to go through with your mom. The genre, characters, and setting of a music video establish the tone of the video. The genre appeals to certain people of enjoy that style of music. The audience has to be able to connect with the characters to feel how they are feeling. The audience must also connect to the setting to remind them of a real place. When these factors are connected the audience can become a part of the video.
