TV vs. MTV
When I watch Comedy Central I assume the commercials are all aimed at a younger adult audience, and in particular a male audience. In particular "Scrubs" has a lot of seemingly random commercials, but on a closer look they all have a market that includes males aging roughly anywhere that is sixteen and older. Especially later at night the commercials seem to steadily be aimed at older and older audiences. This tells me that the advertisers assume that only older men would be watching Comedy Central well into the wee hours of the morning. What I find interesting about "Scrubs" is that it seems to have a character to fit almost every personality, and that tells me how the writers of the show wanted to have a wider audience and not exclude anyway. This fact also explains why "Scrubs" is also a comedy and a bit of a drama at the same time. TV shows and Music Videos are similar in that they all have a specific audience they are trying to reach out to, and music also does not really have one specific writer associated with it, but often a group of people. Although, there are differences between the two, such as how music is a bit more specialized in audience, the same basic ideas can be applied to both when trying to do an analysis.
