TV VS MTV

So the last show I watched was a show that I used to watch with my nine year old brother called "Adventure Time". The commercials that I recall seeing when I was watching this would mostly be those for toys and games. With this said one can infer that this program is marketed for children. What I find interesting about this show is the fact that even though this show does "seem" to be marketed for children I know that it has a large following by teenagers and young adults, possibly even older. Its use of childish terminology and goofy saying to describe things that we might or might not face everyday is pretty entertaining. I feel that it is a kid's show in some respects but at the same time it does not fit the flow of other children's shows with its unique style of animation, talented voice actors, and witty humor. It seems to be in a class of its own in some respects because of this and this is one of the reasons that it has continued to gain more and more followers. In regards to MTV I would have to say that the use of camera angles, absence or presence of certain things, and theme all impact how their music videos are seen. Camera angles can put emphasis on the emotions of the person of interest; like if the singer is experiencing depression a closeup could be used to magnify the look of despair on their face. The absence or presence of certain things can speak volumes; in most popular music videos beautiful girls are used to attract attention to the video, who this girl looks could essentially show who the audience of the video may be. Finally theme is important in music videos, the deeper the lyrics and the greater the correspondence between the music and the lyrics the stronger the theme will be communicated.
