TV vs. MTV

The television show that I frequently watch is Gossip Girl. I don't get the opportunity to watch it as much now that I'm in college, but I have been watching it for several years now. The commercials that play during Gossip Girl are generally targeted toward younger women and teenage girls. They are often hair commercials or make up. The producers realize that their main audience is most likely girls anywhere from age 13 to age 24. With this being known, they are trying to show things that will appeal to women in this age range.

TV and MTV are very different. TV is a very broad term and many different types of shows fit into this category. Anything from drama, comedy, history, or reality shows are shown on TV. MTV is much more contraversial. It is for a very specific age range, mostly teenagers. The things they show on MTV, might not be shown anywhere else. The music videos can also often be a problem for adults and young children. The lyrics are sometimes inapproiate for a general audience.
