1) The thing that was most interesting about the videos, to me, was how much they were alike, but they were not about the same subject. The first video was about being a young teenage girl and just wanting to be free and have fun, and the second video was more about the feelings of heartache and love. Both music videos consisted of young girls, dancing in the streets, and dealt with a rough side of men (construction workers and "pimps" in a bar). I think that both also showed a way of women standing up for themselves and being who they want to be. Also, it was interesting to me to see how much the view of music videos has changed such as the hairstyles, clothing, lyrics, dancing, body language, etc.
2) I think the Love is a Battlefield video gave a stronger message. The video starts out with the harsh feelings of the young girl's parents kicking her out and she begins walking down the streets. While she walks down street, like the article explained, it makes it seem as though the girl is portraying the life of prostitution with the signs "Girls, Girls, Girls" in the background. Ending up in a bar and slowly dancing, showing little to no emotion throughout the whole video, the storyline of the video seems to grab my attention because it is more of a negative and heart felt story, unlike Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
3) In the video that I chose, Where is the Love by the Black Eyed Peas, the story takes place in a dull, poor town and throughout the video, guys dressed in hooded jackets and dark clothes are running around the town placing stickers and papers with a red question mark on a black background everywhere. I think that them placing the question marks all around the town is a way of showing that they are trying to improve the town and make a difference to everyone living in it by questioning what has happened to their town. It is obvious that it would grab our attention if there were questions marks all around campus and we would want to know what they meant or why they were there. Most of the people and kids in the video are dressed poorly and don't look very well kept, and one of the children singing has all of his teeth capped and silver. The whole story shows that there is not a lot of money in the town and I think one of the meanings of the video is to show that no matter how much money a city/town has or doesn't have, there is no reason to have poor attitudes and criminals. The song repeatedly sings, "Where is the love" and it shows that because the city is not flourishing and rich, it has fallen in every other aspect of life, with graffitti on the walls, children crying and walking in the street, men getting arrested and being tackled by cops, and the guys running around putting posters up portray robbers, or criminals, in their black hoodies and dark, baggy clothes.
