1983- The Femal Address Video

1. These two videos are both very empowering for women. The dancing and the wardrobe stuck out especially to me. The dancing in the videos was something very out of the ordinary for women at the time. Their moves demonstrated their rebellion from their typical "housewife" image. Men were not portrayed as good people in this video. Women were clearly seen as the dominant out of the two.
2. They both had very strong messages in their own way. Personally, I could understand the message in "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" better because she simply was defying the normal standard for a teenage girl and just going out and having a good time. I feel like "Love is a Battlefield" was a little more complex to understand. The handout talked about how the whole issue of prostitution and how she was perceived as a prostitute at first. I might need a little more explanation on this video in regards to the real message.
3. My video is "Run the World" by Beyonce. Beyonce is clearly showing the empowerment of women just like these two videos above. She is stating that girls "run the world" over men. Beyonce also shows her emotion through dancing, like Lauper and Benatar did. Watching these two videos, I realized Beyonce is trying to show the same message, women are strong and independent.
