I frequently watch The 70's Show. I think this show is absolutely hilarious. It comes on every night around 10 o'clock and plays episodes for up to 4 hours. This show is obviously supposed to be set during the 1970's, so part of the humor of it is seeing how characters and people not thought times were in the 70's. There are many different types of characters in this show. Jackie is the prissy, stuck up girl. Donna is the "hot" one, and so on. Of course, there is one guy who is a hippie. The reason this show is funny is because the way they act is so true to how people acted in the 1970's. My parents both love watching this show because it brings back memories of their teenage years. I think that the audience this show appeals to is very broad. I enjoy watching it, and so do my parents. It is a very general show that people of all ages could enjoy. The commercials that come on during the show are just regular commercials. One thing I did notice is that their are many commercials having to do with music. Music was very popular during the 70's, and the people in charge of the ads probably assume that people watching enjoy the good music that was enjoyed back in the day.
I think MTV and TV are very different. MTV is set out to appeal to one age group, teenagers. They do not care if parents disagree with what they are showing. As long as the kids are entertained, they are happy. I also think that music videos and TV are very similar because the same way characters in TV shows have scripts, music videos have song lyrics. Both of those allow you to feel a connection with the character or singer.
