Myself in a Text

When I think about what makes me who I am I would say that trying new things has formed me into the person who I have become. Whether it is with my choice of college, friends, sports or music. For example, I have grown up my entire life in the same part of California. However, with many great schools in my home area I decided to make a change in my life and try out a completely different part of the country. I am sure this will change my life and my personality but that is why I decided to move so far away, I always want to keep my options open and allow for me to experience different cultures. As far as friends go, in high school I always tried to meet and hang out with a variety of people in my class to see whom I was most comfortable around. I had friends from my grade school whom I had been close with since the first grade, friends from my water polo team, and my core group of friends. All these groups of friends that I would spend my time with changed my life and shaped me in different ways. Even now in college I have a couple different groups of people I spend my time with as I am trying not to seclude my friendships so a limited number of people. I have even experimented with different sports. I grew up my whole childhood as a baseball player and I thought that was going to be what I did the rest of my life; however, with my experimentation of water polo that became my new sport and my new passion. Water polo has had such a huge impact on my life and I would probably be a completely different person had I stuck to only baseball. Even something as minor as my choices in music have formed my identity. Being a big fan of four different genres of music (classic rock, alternative, country and rap) I have been able to have a wide variety of music choices and although that has not quite changed my life in such a drastic way as the other categories, it is still a part of my life that has changed due to my urge to try new and different things.
