The Last Stop
Cable's descriptions pretty much summed up what most people think about mortuaries. They aren't exactly a place where people enjoy going. Cable went into the mortuary thinking that it was going to be sad and gloomy, which is exactly how I would go in thinking. Cable had thought that the mortician would look exactly the way he did, however he was surprised at how cool and easy the mortician was to talk to. As Cable explored the place, his attitude slowly changed. He began to realize that mortuaries aren't just a place to drop off your deceased. It's a place with special value that gives the family one last assurance that their deceased is in a good place. This story changed my mind a lot also, just like Cable. Mortuaries are really something people stray away from because they seem "sad" or "gloomy". Yet, they have the ability to transform your loved one into the person they were living. Also, they provide a resting place for them for all of eternity. Although, they don't provide emotional comfort to the mourning, the employees are kind and want to help in any way they can. Through this story, I realized mortuaries are very important in the world, they cause the mourning families relief and comfort.

I agree with you. Although funeral directors and their employees do not provide any emotional support, they are performing a service not only to the family but also to the public. And for that reason, we should respect them. They perform jobs that most of us could never even imagine doing.--Meryl Hall
