When I was younger, I was a huge Barbie fan. I didn't go anywhere without taking atleast five of my barbie dolls along. However, I did not know that there were so many different types of Barbies.
When I think about people who collect barbies, I have to admit that I agreed with the author and thought it was kind of a silly hobby. After reading this essay, I realize that was not a fair assumption to make. People collect things for different reasons and like the essay shows, some people do this because it is all they have left. This essay made me realize that things are not always as they appear. I really enjoyed this essay, it was funny as well as informative. I think the most important part of this essay was when the author also realized she had been wrong in her judgement of the collectors. She realized that each individual had their own story and reason for why they were collectors. At the end of the essay she is even excited to have her own Barbie. This essay had a lot of details that helped the readers get a feel for the setting and what she was seeing and thinking throughout the whole essay. This has helped to show me what will help my readers get a better feel of what I am trying to write about.
