The Last Stop

The description of the mortuary that the author described before going to visit is a basic representation that most people have. They seem to be very dark, gloomy and a place that people do not want to be. The people there seem rather strange or eerie with pale skin and dark cloths. I too had the same assumptions as the author, but after reading the story it puts a better perspective of viewing death. Cable realized this experience turned out to be completely different than what he thought it was going to. He felt relaxed and comfortable, and he saw the surroundings were more inviting than what he expected. After approaching the thirty coffins and examining them and actually touching the dead man, he has come to view death in a whole new way. He saw it has a comforting zone for the family of the deceased to see their loved one in their new "home" that they have picked out themselves. This also brings a comforting feeling to the mortician to see the family members feel better about the situation. Mortuaries are very important in helping families say goodbye, but it would take a special person to be able to do the job. Cable's experience  will help me be more open and understanding, and also to use better detail for my next paper.
