Befriending Barbie

One thing I didn't know before reading this paper is that there were different types of Barbies.  I thought it was the same doll just in different outfits.  I also was a bit surprised that people could be this excited to see dolls.  I also consider toys things for children to play with not collect.  However, there is a collector for every item so Barbie is no different.  The prices which the dolls can come to also shocked me.  I like the fact that these people had dedicated so much time in to doing something they enjoyed, but I do not like dolls so a collection of them would not interest me.  The beginning is the most important because is sets up the story and gives some background on the collector in general.  This essay gave a lot of detail and allowed the reader to feel as if they were there looking at the dolls.  This will help me to write my paper by giving me an example of the use of dialog to set a scene.
