Barbie!

When I first saw the title to this piece of writing, I didn't really know what to expect. I loved Barbies growing up and so did both of my sisters. What I didn't know is how much Barbie actually does mean to some people. I also didn't know that there was such a thing as Barbie conventions. I think the writer is very good at being descriptive and she also achieves this descriptiveness with the dialogue used. I think that it is written well and it is entertaining. I also think that the author paints a vivid picture in the readers mind. The author seems to go into the situation as sort of a skeptic, but she comes out of the situation with a completely different mindset. She realizes that there is more to Barbie than just her cute clothes and pretty blonde hair. Some people have serious attachments to Barbie because of memories they have with her, as weird as it may sound. I know I will always remember pushing Barbie around my room in her little yellow Volkswagen beetle with my two sisters. Most people that had Barbies had some sort of fond memory having to do with them, or they simply just remind them of their childhood, which sometimes is just what people need. This piece of writing makes me hope that I still have that box of Barbies somewhere at home so I can sell them one day to big-time collectors that they mean much more to than they do to me.
