The Last Stop

This story actually made me feel alot better than i did about mortuarys, just like it did for cable. whenever i have to go to a funeral i always get nervous, theres just something really uncomforatable to me about mortuarys. Cables assumptions were just as mine were. before i read this i believed that a funeral home is a dark, gloomy, and even scary place. after reading the story i find that the houses do have a dark and gloomy feel to them, but they are not all that scary. i also did take in the fact that the embalmers job is more of a deed to the public, as cable compares a mortuary to a fire house.
I actually believe it takes a very special person to be the head of a funeral home. if you think about it, they have alot of studying to do, comparable to that of pre med and cosmolegy students. if your smart enough to bare that load then you have to think about the pressure and will to work around deceased bodies. not all people can do the job of a mortician. i know for sure i could not be around that all day, especially live around it like mr. deaver and his wife do.

  1. I completely agree with you on this. It really does take a special kind of person to be able to help ease the pain of the mourning, by taking care of the body after it is deceased. I agree that Cable explained the process in a way that calmed me and made me feel a little better about funerals and the whole process.
